Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State Thursday, pardoned 46 prison inmates in various correctional institutions across the State.
In a press release signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor Humwashi Wonosikou, the pardon was in exercise of the powers conferred on the governor by section 212(i)(b) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
"The forty-six pardoned inmates are serving their terms in Jada, Ganye, Numan, Jimeta, Yola, Mubi and Kojoli correctional facilities.
"Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s decision is part of efforts to decongest some of the overburdened correctional centres in the wake of the novel Coronavirus pandemic," Wonosikou said.
